Services

By statute, three services are to be provided by townships: a general assistance program to qualifying residents, property assessment, and maintenance of township roads and bridges. General assistance at the township level provides immediate help to the destitute, according to local standards and needs, and with local dollars. Accurate property assessments provide income through tax levies for all local governments. The greater the proficiency of the township assessor, the more equitable the taxes paid by the property owners.

The Casey Township Hwy. Commissioner has all the roads and bridges within Casey Township under his jurisdiction, except those inside the City of Casey. It is my responsibility for the road and bridge construction and maintenance to the extent that electors provide me with the funds for such. Township Road Commissioners have sole jurisdiction over the roads and bridges of the district and are not subject to the direction of the Township board, with certain exceptions.

Township Cemeteries

CASEY CEMETERIES

    

Casey Township has now completed the new addition to Casey Township Cemeteries. The new addition has been named the Vernon Addition of Casey Township Cemeteries. With this new addition Casey Township will have enough grave spaces for the next 100 years. Within the new cemetery we have placed a new columbarium. The columbarium will allow us to sell 48 niches for ashes burial. We have also made provisions for 2 more columbarium’s that can be placed as needed allowing 96 more ashes burials. We are now selling grave spaces in the new Vernon Addition as well as niches in the columbarium. To purchase the grave space of your choice, or the niche of your choice please call the cemetery. If no one answers please leave your name and phone number and Russell, the cemetery supervisor, will return your call as quickly as possible. Russell will set up an appointment with you and assist you in obtaining the grave space of your choice. Casey Township is blessed to have three large cemeteries. Washington Street Cemetery, Cumberland Cemetery and now the Vernon Addition. All three cemeteries are funded 100% by Casey Township. The everyday operation of the Cemeteries are run by the Cemetery Board who is appointed by the Casey Township Supervisor and approved by the Town Board. The prices of the lots are the same at all three cemeteries and are as follows. Each Grave space sells for $200. Each niche sells for $500. center;

All Rules and Regulations governing Casey Township Cemeteries have been adopted ‘ May 12, 2012, and any rules and regulations adopted prior to this date are null and void. ENFORCEMENT OF THESE RULES: The Casey Township Cemetery Board is hereby empowered to enforce all Rules and Regulations and to exclude from the cemeteries any person violating the same. The Cemetery Board shall have charge of the grounds and buildings including the conduct of funerals, traffic, employees, lot owners and visitors and at all times shall have supervision and control of all persons in the Cemeteries. A copy of ” Casey Township Cemeteries” “Rules and Regulations” can be obtained by writing to the Casey Township Cemeteries, 1604 E Washington Street Road, Casey IL 62420. It will include such information as General Rules, Lot and Lot Owners, Care of Lots, Monuments, Cremations and “Rules and Regulations” of Casey Township Cemeteries.
